Oprah,watch what you give away!

Its been almost a month since I posted.Ok more than a month,"almost a month" looked nicer down on paper but whatever.
I know I am in the middle of the blogging A to Z challenge but I had to take a break to share this article with you.

Oprah in India

Many of you who are active online should have already come across this article,but I could not resist posting it here.

I have been watching The Oprah Winfrey Show since I can remember(or since they started streaming Zee Cafe,Star World etc in "Poor Little India')

I loved her style of storytelling.I though she really got to the core of an issue.I thought she knew what she was talking about.

But after reading the above article,not so much!

Blogging A to Z:I is for...

I is for Inspiration,or the lack there of!

I promised myself I would be religious with my blog and it just did not happen.
I was so embarassed that I even refused to open the blogger window on my laptop.Talk about running away from commitment huh?

So I figured instead of listing things that I associate "I" with,why don't I stick to the one thing that so perfectly starts with an "I" and that is *Drumroll*... "I" of Me,Myself and I fame.(One irritating sentence that is!Suggest you ignore and move on!

• I love my darling baby girl(who is not so baby now)
• I love to dance and I'm willing anytime,anywhere.
• I love to read,though I dont get as much time as I would like now.
• I love to learn new things about new cultures,their food,famous placs to visit and so on.
• I Love Puppies/Dogs and possibly any other kind of living creature.
• I love painting my nails.(French Manicures in particular).
• I love fighting with my husand like there is no tomorrw....but manage to make up for it(most of the time).
• I love love love facebook...(even at the cost of sounding looserish!)I know some people complain abot not wanting to know this and that of a persons life.Dont like someones posts?Use the unsubscribe button.Thats what its there for! Also,your incisicent complaining does not make for very interesting fb posts as well.
• I love doing side profiles for pictures :)
• I love sleeeping reaaal late!
• I love dressing up and shopping.(Just found this new site http://www.thebeachcompany.in/ today and made my debut there!)
• I love enterprising people.The go-getters.The kinds who have a dream and follow through.Nowif only I could be one!

That's all folks!
I know this is writing for writings sake but what's a girl to do :(

Blogging A to Z: H is for....

I am not even going to try apologizing.I got lazy and that was it.

Moving on..

H is for..

H is for Husbands.No post of mine is usually complete unless I do a lil (not so flattering) piece on my husband.We share quite the dysfunctional relationship.We are poles apart,attitude-wise,personality wise right down to food habit wise.Could we be any more different?
For example:
My husband is always on a diet.Like always!
So every night when I get home from work and ask him what he would like for dinner the first thing he says is "Nothing for me,I am on a diet" and then promptly proceeds to eat half a Toblerone bar,a bondi laddo,rice,daal and vegetable.(In that order because I take time to cook dinner).
This happens without fail.Every Night.
Indecisive much?!Hell yeah!
Since this is my blog I reserve the right to post embarrassing stories about him and none about me.
Sue me.

But for those wondering, there is something that makes us tick.Something buried deep down inside that makes both of us happy to settle down with each other at the end of the day.We compliment each other in the most (to put in mildly) quirky way.

H is for Holidays.Siigghh.So many places to go.People to see.Things to do.I adore the different kinds of holidays you can take.You can do the backpacking kinds,the lazy kinds,the chilled out and relaxed kinds,the adventurous kinds,the "Yeaah,I dont have to check work mails" kind.
Want.One.Now.
Now.!

H is for Hulk.Am I the only one who finds the Hulk super cute.I loved him in The Avengers and Aaaarrrggg trust me I feel like I could loose my temper and go "smash" sometimes!Just ask my husband :)

H is for Heaven.I added this as an after though actually.Its not the normal "Heaven is a magical place that I want to go to and blah blah".It's just this little story I wanted to share.
I was on the flight to Bangalore recently.I always opt for the aisle seat and the 2 seats next to me were occupied by a father and his (seemed like) 4 year old son.The boy was extremely cute and was chattering nineteen to a dozen.His discussions ranged from comic books to super heroes to his newest best friend.
His father suddenly pointed to the clouds outside and said "Isn't that beautiful?".
The little guy peered and I could literally see a look of awe spread all over his face "Papa" he said,"I think this is heaven".

I thought it was the cutest thing I had ever heard!

Blogging A to Z:G is for..

It's been a while hasn't it?Blame it on the weekend and hectic work schedule I had this past week.
I promise to try and be more regular with my A to Z's :)

G is for....

-Flicker

G is for Ghosts and Ghouls.None of which I believe in.(Of coz!).Not that I have anything against people who do because I have had my share of paranormal weird experiences,but I sit dwn and manage to find a logical explanation.Now is THAT weird?!

G is for Google.A lifeline.What did the world do before Google?How did you ever play scrabble?(presuming that you also have a feisty family that demands every alternate word you put down(I honestly thought "Zoop" was a good,legitimate word and got me 28 points!) ,be checked in the dictionary,and then the hunt ensues to look for said dictionary!pheeww!).I would have loved for google to have been there then.
Google is a magical land for me.I can visit different places,sample different cuisines,read some inspiring stories,learn some new fashion tips and so much more.

G is for Grandparents.The most important and influential people in my life.I lived with with them through my formative years and I can honestly tell you I am what I am thanks to them.The were extremely supportive and I think I am one of those lucky ones who got the best of both worlds.Doting parents AND grandparents :)

G is for Greens.I mean those green leafy vegetables that you hate as a child and understand the importance of later as an adult.Well,it has recently occurred to me that I need to incorporate lots and lots of greens in my diet to make it a healthy balanced one.So I rolled up my sleeves and brought on the spinach(red and green version no less) and made some nice things.I tried a spinach and tomato pulao and the normal spinach in coconut sabzi.Both were reasonably tasty and I wonder why I had a thing against green leafy stuff earlier?

G is for Gossip Girl.Why oh why am I addicted to these preppy lil serials :(

I seem to have hit some kind of blogger wall.
I hear that's pretty common, so I guess there is nothing to worry about as of now :)

Without further ado....F is for.

F is for F.R.I.E.N.D.S.I love the sitcom.No,no not love,I am OBSESSED with the sitcom.I watch reruns on TV,I can mouth the dialogues before they are said,and I guarantee I can kick a#$ in any challenge regarding the series.Ask me writer/director names or the season in which Rachel wore the Princess Leia bikini and I'll tell you.
In fact I have the series on in the background everyday!

F is for Fish.I must admit now.I am a fraud mallu(malayali).I don't eat fish.OK the eyebrows can come back down now.I just don't eat fish and I'm sick of having to justify why I don't.That being said I have a very "fishy"(PJ alert) husband and now daughter.They adore fish,in ANY form.Cookie actually looked at her fish puzzle that has the cutest goldfish swimming in water and said "Oh,I like fish"! and I grinned happily thinking "How cute is that",until I heard her next sentence which was "When Ammuma fries it!".
Now that is a Mallu if I ever saw one.

F is for Fire.Ahh,estate memories again.Probably the only place I have had a lovely crackling fire lit in my bedroom.I used to curl up in front of it with a book and it used to feel so romantic.I did get a fire lit when Ram came over to estate,he curled up too. And snored!
Romance Out .Of.Window.

F is for Fights.I am known to be this uber confident person but I hate fights.I find that confrontations always end up in fights.And where I will plunge into a fight headon if I HAVE to.I will think 10 times before getting into one if I can let the matter slide.I am not sure if this is good or bad.But what's a person to do?

F is for Fun.You know the thing we used to have as kids.I am amazed that the definition of fun has since changed dynamically.Swinging on the gates used to be fun,now getting drunk and driving is fun!Ugggh!Drink if you must,even I am known to enjoy a good glass of wine occasionally.But NEVER drink and drive.Its something I draw the line at.So can we think of other ways to have fun?

F is for Family.I cannot live without them.Period.They mean everything to me and I hope I can be as strong a support system to them as they are to me.

F is for Fashion.I am a bit of a fashion conscious person.I love nice clothes.I love looking at nice clothes,buying nice clothes,helping people buy nice clothes...you get the drift.I make sure I get my hands on any fashion magazine that appear on the stand at Nilgiris in my apartment.And even though I hate beauty salons,I go there just to get my monthly fix of Vogue and Marie Claire.

So that was "F" for today and I'll see you with "G" tomorrow.

Blogging A to Z:E is for..

So its a lazy Saturday,with the husband out of town(yet again!)
I'm lounging at home with a face pack, watching reruns of Law and Order:Criminal Intent on Fox Crime and thinking up stuff that starts with "E".That's how good I am at multitasking.

E is for....

-Google

E is for Elmo.The cute monster from Sesame Street.My daughter loves the "Elmo has a question" bit.So now its  "Cookie has a question" or "Cookie wants this".How long before this third person thing gets on my nerves though?Oh and they also house the "Cookie Monster" just as I do :) :)

E is for E-Mail.I wonder how we got through life without it?As much as I would love receiving paper handwritten letters,I think its more for the romance of it than its practical purpose.Can you imagine having to note down your clients address and send them written documents,wait for them to read,write and mail back.Now what if your client was abroad?What would have happened to globalization if not for e-mail?Today I shoot an e-mail out to my counterpart in the US and get a reply instantly.
We NEED e-mails for progress,not to mention preserving trees.

E is for Enid Blyton.I don't think there is a single book of her's I haven't read.I even wanted to go to boarding school after I read Malory Towers and St.Clares.I have happy memories of afternoons spent on the estate,with "The Famous Five" and "Mr.Pink Whistle".I wanted to visit all the lands that settled on top of the "Faraway Tree" and take off on "The Wishing Chair" when I got really bored(There isn't anything much to do on the estate).
I cant wait for Cookie to start reading so I can re-read.

E is for "Early Mornings".I hate them :(.I hate early morning calls,I hate early morning flights,you get the drift.
I remember being up for some god forsaken reason at 5:30 a.m and seeing people around me up and about, looking bright and fresh.A) Why would you voluntarily get up at this unearthly hour and B)Why do you look so chirpy?I kid you not, I look like something that the cat dragged in early in the morning and trust me you don't talk to me before 9 a.m unless you want your head bitten off.
Early mornings...baaah!
Late Nights?...Now that I can get on board with.

E is for Earrings.They are just so pretty.But I have this bad habit of loosing them.I know friends who have lovely earrings and manage to match it to outfit.I couldn't even if I tried.I do buy them by the dozen because when you go to a store and see these lovely accessories lined up,you cant help but buy them.I recently bought hoops in 5 different colors!Sad to say I cannot locate them as of now :(

E is for Easter Lily's.This gorgeous trumpet shaped flower symbolizes purity to me and I love the calming sense that prevails when you have them arranged in the house.

E is for Echo.And how fascinated I am with them.Imagine just because of the way the room or space is positioned sound can reverberate back.Eerie but nice.Read more here.

E is for Eclairs.Especially those ones that you get at Pandhal in Cochin.Nice whipped cream inside with lovely crusty pastry slathered with chocolate outside!
