Of boutiques and backless backless blouses!

The husband was at work this Saturday and instead of lazing around at home I decided to get my hiney into my car and head off for some much deserved R&R(I define that as Retail and Relaxation, which pretty much go hand in hand according to me!).

I set off to MG Road which isn't exactly a stones throw away from my place!I left around 12 in the afternoon looking to avoid traffic and then realized EVERYONE in Bangalore apparently had the same idea!Anyhow a couple of cusses under my breath at moronic bus drivers who change lanes at the drop of a hat!I managed to make it to my favorite salon for a hair cut appointment with my favorite hairstylist!!Yaayyy :) (He's been away on a month long holiday and I have been patiently waiting hence the excitement :))

I then walked upto the lifestyle store nearby and tried to spend some of the GV's I got from work, but sigh my retail karma was just not that good that day and I ended up with nothing :(

I then walked back to where I had parked my car, picked up a giant coke and started my long drive back with 91.9 FM to keep me company!RJ Michele was at the "Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week" and was busy giving us a blow by blow account of all the designers, their collections and intersperspercing the entire thing with music which I quite enjoyed...until....she announced the next designer that she would be speaking to "Neema Kumar" and I am not kidding I nearly rammed into a tree!

I met Ms.Neema Kumar around 2 years back when I was looking for someone to fashion a nice blouse to go with the gorgeous saree I had bought to wear for Cookie's 1st B'day.
She had a decent boutique with huge posters of the ramp shows she had done and all that.
The lady herself wasnt someone you would have confidence in as a designer and she had some monstrosities hanging around her boutique but I figured you cant blame the designer for what people want!
Siigghhh...Moral:Trust your instincts...ALWAYS!

So what I wanted was something like this....

But instead of the tying bit I wanted a nice brooch to hold the blouse together..Nice??Well I thought so too.
Firs thing she told me was that she couldnt give me sleeves if I wanted a backless blouse and since I didn't have this image back then and was relying on my wonderful designer ideas I could not argue with her and agreed to a sleevless blouse since I was quite insistent on a backless blouse.
A month eventlessly passes by and it gets close to the "Partay Day" so I give our lady a call and ask her whats up with my blouse and if its ready since she had told me she'd give me a call when its ready and that hasn't happened as yet....thankfully she remembered me but said shez in Mumbai shopping at the moment..??! and I could pick the blouse up from the boutique.

To cut a long story short after 6 trips to the boutique in 3 days I end up with something that almost made me hurl :( I dont think I eve have the words to describe what she had done....the blouse had a highneckline as well as a high back and bang in the middle of the back was the ugliest brooch I had ever seen.
I didn't know what to get most upset at..the high front and back nun type blouse, the horrendous brooch in the middle or the fact that there was nothing that could salvage the blouse and the party was the next day!

A butchered blouse and battered person I got home almost in tears.

I can just imagine what her fashion show must have been like and as much as I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt I cannot bring myself to!

Old memories brought back just because of the fashion week and the fact that I didn't want to laze around on a Saturday!Who would have thought!

P.S What did I wear finally? Thanks to maroon being an all time fav color when buying sarees I did have some random maroon blouses lying around and so I mixed and matched...the end result wasn't too bad :)
